Then you came to the wrong place. All "what car should I buy" threads on the Internet are just like this one.

Pick up a copy of the Consumer Reports annual auto issue, go to their website and get a subscription, or check out TrueDelta.com. All the info you need on used cars is there. It's well worth paying for a CR subscription considering the amount of money you're going to be spending. Toyota and Lexus are the reliability leaders, but there are other reliable cars that are a better value because they don't have the same perceived level of reliability.

Most vehicles these days if bought new are reliable and low on maintenance for the first few years at least.
As it get's along in it's life it may call for more maintenance.
As time goes by lots of variables may affect it's reliability and maintenance.
So OP may want to specify parameters like new/used, what period of ownership etc.

If you want the most durable car possible, consider being a luddite.

- Manual transmission only (none of that CVT, slushbox, DCT crap)
- Avoid trims with touch-screen infotainment system
- None of that turbo crap, and if possible, avoid DI engines
- 16" wheels or smaller
- 195/45 tires

E: Few more things...

- Manual adjustable seats and mirrors
- Halogen bulbs
- Torsion beam suspension

Cheap, low maintenance and reliable?

How about a sixth generation Buick Century (1997-2005)?

They are about as boring as you will get, but can be purchased at a low price. Parts are cheap. Transmission is strong as is the 3.1L engine.

Might as well ride a bus at that point.
