So I went out of town and left my computer at home... stuck on the sidelines.

Out of remaining ES at 2622 (+45). Flat into the weekend.

Something about today's low just seems off to me. A single tick over Sunday night's futures low and buy programs kicked in immediately. Seems a little too easy lol.

I plan to re-enter once we break 2650 to the upside. Until then, all we have is a series of lower highs and lower lows.

What a week! Haven't been this exhausted since election night 2016. Have a great weekend all!

From November 9, 2016 to February 1, 2018, the S&P 500 traded in an average intraday range of just 0.6%.

But since Friday, February, 2, we’ve had an intraday trading range of nearly 3%.

Many active traders love it, because we're seeing plenty of wild swings back and forth.

Longer-term investors, of course, are worried about a major pullback.

All the major indices are about 10% below their all-time highs set in January.

Not one of the major equity ETF's I follow is close to its highs. Consumer staples and regional banks are doing the "least worst," though not by much.

Meanwhile, energy, utilities, and biotechnology stocks have taken the biggest hits.

Marko Kolanovic Global Head of Macro Quantitative and Derivatives Strategy from JPM released a report last year explaining Machine Learning and Big Data investing. He wrote how fundamental 'discretionary traders’ account for only about 10 percent of trading volume in stocks. Passive and quantitative investing accounts for about 60 percent, more than double the share a decade ago.

He also wrote about how Big Data and Machine Learning will change the investment landscape. Essentially, the market will react faster and will increasingly anticipate traditional or 'old' data. Ie: we are in global reflationary period - thus higher earnings estimates coming in across all indice components and higher economic data releases to support. Therefore the risk is inflation ie: higher bond yields. This is essentially the data relationship that turned the HFT's to trigger selling, and selling begets selling leading into the now infamous 'XIV crush'.

No one knows what the next data triggers will be to entice buyers but I think it's simply going to have to wait until sharebuyback blackout periods are over. Until then I'll stay put entirely with my existing positions but have bought new positions in good companies and will continue to buy.
Not doing the big buy in tomorrow anymore? (you were saying you were waiting till monday for the transfer)

I was planning for Monday too because I think Friday's dead cat bounce will lead to some sell off this week, then we'll jaggedly go back to all time highs.

Unfortunately an RRSP bank to bank transfer takes much longer than I thought.... We went in this weekend to sign the transfer papers and I was told it'd take up to 3 weeks for the transfer to be completed.

bot NAS pre-market 6460, sold 6505
shorted ES 2653, NQ 6508

IMO, I will be covering near Friday's high (2630,6440) and go long. The bounce to continue...

p.s. tight stop near break even. everything can happen

edit: boom, covered half ES 2630. Riding the rest... stop 2640

edit2: some support near Friday's highs, but weak. Will keep full NQ and half ES shorts until test of 20MA. 2590/6350. Adjusting stop down as we go.

edit3: market turning, covering. 2629, 6450

After spending many years in Wall Street and after making and losing millions of dollars I want to tell you this: it never was my thinking that made the big money for me. It was always my sitting. Got that? My sitting tight!

neutral now. Russel negative, as well as mid caps. Dow/Nas strongest.

buying ES 2630 - filled. stop below 2620. Moved stop 2626.5

Infrastructure plan is huge disappointment. Only 200B spread over many areas? And local/state must find remaining 80%? State/local governments are stretched and some are BK, raising local taxes will kill federal tax cuts, lol.
