Hey guys, a little help here. I moved from the US a couple of months back and need help with finding a good online stock broker - Lot of info/choices from the web and I understand the choices differ based on needs/priorities, but looking for something with a low trading fee, low/no monthly fee and low/no monthly minimum balance. Wish robinhood was here in Canada! TIA
For non reg, there will always be a min balance to be maintained but Questrade is probably your best bet.

L Brands is crushing 11% right now. News is out that Victoria's Secret can't move inventory even during their semi-annual sale. The #MeToo movement is hurting their sexual lingerie sales. Ouch!

https://www.fastcompany.com/90201475/ba ... en-on-sale

My opinion: Do not touch.

You may want to have a look at Questrade and Interactive Brokers (IB). Both are good. IB can save you some more commission than Questrade if your trades are higher than $10000.

what-if the stock got down to $10 or some number lower than the original IPO, the Ontario government could buy back a chunk of shares, the stock gets pumped back up to $20, government sells the quantity of shares it previously bought back.

is that a possibility?
Anything is a possibility.... but with Ford's campaign basically blaming Hydro One for the high electric prices, I expect that Ford would want Hydro One to 'pay the money back' to the public which means that they might just turn it into a public co-op of sorts. Besides, why would the Ontario government by it back? And where would they get the money to do it with?

Although fairly subjective, I like LNR's management better than MG. But you are right MG has more diversification.
It is subjective but with NAFTA and auto tariffs in play, LNR and the smaller MRE are too concentrated in the blast zone and as such will be held back.

Given the upcoming midterms, there are less volatile names out there than those Canadian auto parts makers which could suffer greatly because of Trump.
Hence, I mentioned MG over LNR and MRE. MG has a major foot print in around the world.

L Brands have been having issues even before #MeToo and the associated actions. They are just a troubled retailer who are centred to retail shopping malls in the US. Until mall traffic picks up, L Brands will be having issues.

Magna's sales are better spread across the globe. Although not to the same scale, Linamar is also diversified across the world and in different industries. From their Q1 investor presentation, they have 25 manufacturing facilities outside of N.A. (M-US-C), in countries like France, Germany, Hungary, China and India. 56% of LNR's sales are from the automobile segment and they have acquired MacDon as they are trying to grow in the agriculture equipment space. I like the focus on hybrid and electric vehicle components. Both are good companies IMO and MG has performed better in the 1, 3, 5, and 10 year timeframes.

Funny, because they dropped when the acquisition was ok'd, now they drop when it's being challenged.

Just don't like uncertainty I guess.
