What digital cameras should I look at?
Looks like it's about time to start watching for a new dcam.
I know there is quite a few dcam gurus on hear so I figured I'd get some opinions. Looking to keep the cost under $400...new or mint and almost new. If you are selling something and see this thread feel free to PM me.
What I'm thinking atm is the new Canon A510...3MP, 4x optical zoom.
What I'm wondering is what other cameras fall into a similar performance range and may be a better choice. Primary usage of my dcam ends up being taking pics of computer hardware...but I want a cam that is all around good as there will be plenty of indoor/outdoor shots taken on it. Another feature I kinda like is the flip out screen found on cams like the A95...I think that would help keep the LCD minty.
I've been happy with my A70 until it started to fail...circuit connections need repair and I've been quoted at like $75+ to fix it. If I get a new dcam I'll probably get it fixed and sell cheap or give to the inlaws._______________Scotty is a cheap mofo and loves to get a deal!

Yeah...I've read the reviews...on quite a few cams anyways. But reviews are just reviews...I like to get user input as well.
Plus the fact that most reviews won't say "X cam is the best cam this range...much better then Y and Z"...they just give the pros and cons of each and let the reader decide. Well, there is probaby several people here on RFD who have used one or more of the type of cameras I'm looking at and may have something to say.
So...once again, I'm just looking for some user input. If you haven't used the dcam yourself no need to reply. I'm definitely not lazy and actually enjoy reading reviews...but I don't have time to read and compare every review on every site...hence why I was hoping to get a choice narrowed down from some people who have already went through this ordeal.
Thanks_______________Scotty is a cheap mofo and loves to get a deal!

Canon. For sure. A-series is awesome. The A510 is a great camera. If you want a smaller one, get the S410. either will be amazing. I'd get the A series though, way more manual controls.

Mar 6th, 2005 12:06 AM #7Yeah...I like that about my A70. I also like NOT having teh stupid propriatry (SP?) battery. The A510 only take 2 AA's now too which is nice. Only thing I'll have to do is move to SD from CF, which is fine.

I have a Fujifilm FinePix 3800 Zoom, 3.2 Mega Pixels, 6 X Optical Zoom. It uses the xD card, and AA batteries. Have had it for just over a year now, and it gives great images. It has been replaced by FinePix S3000 series, but some of the new ones don't have sound capability in movie clip or image modes. It has 5 resolution settings .3 MP, 1 MP, 2 MP 3 MP normal and 3 MP fine. 3 MP normal enlargements to 8 X 12 are excellent quality. It originally cost $500 plus, but prices have come down on the new versions, $300 to $400. I think it is a great digital camera.
