What to do with an old car?
I have a 96 sunfire coupe which was in an accident and now sitting on the driveway. The car is in perfect running condition and just missing a hood, windshield and airbags were blown.
I bought it for $2k and it would cost about that to fix it.
I would really hate to throw it out and I wonder what are my options? Can I sell it somewhere for parts or something like that?
Thank you.
Alex

The decision would depend on the number of kilometers on the car.
Also consider condition of tires, how long the brakes are likely to go without repair and is it original timing belt. Check the exhaust system for rust.
2K is a lot. Without more info I can't give advice. Can u get the cost down with junkyard/used parts? Maybe find a hood that doesn't need painting ie same colour.

also look into donating the car. You may not get as much money (in the form of a tax receipt) but it's a good thing to do.

Get a hood and air bag from junk yard and find a cheap place for the windscreen, if this is all that need to be replaced.
Total should be about $500.

The hood is just bolt off / bolt on but you need couple helper to hold it in place. Air bag is a little tricky cause it is safety related. Both jobs together should be less than 1.5 hours.

Take it apart and sell them on ebay. You'll probably get more than $2000.

does it have the GT sticker on the back of it? I'll buy it from you for 5 bucks.
Sell it as a parts car. Get a trader.ca add. Sell it for parts. put a price of like 400-600 depending on how many kms and what got damaged. Why dont you make a claim and have ur insurance pay for it?

Just wondering, how do you get into an airbag-deploying, hood-destroying, winshield-breaking accident but not damage the front bumper? (I'm surprised the fenders weren't damaged as well). Just asking because you didn't mention it needed a bumper as well...
