Here is the situation
Got into an accident with parents car, some Mercedes hit my beater Oldsmobile, wont go in details on whose fault
2 persons in each car, no injury, both cars driveable, so we did not call the police, damages for his car definitely exceeded over $2000 (dunno the cost of two doors on 2010 mercedes)
we exchanged info, no question of whos fault it is
we had several witnesses but since we didn't call the police, they all left the scene
we drove to the different collision centres (because its the closest ones to our homes) and reported the incident and got police reports
now this is my first incident as was his
parents arent sure what to do as they never got into an accident before
Me: G1
My Car: Insured by parents
No personal insurance
Him: G2
His Car: Insured by parents
has personal insurance
what is going to happen now?
Yes, am aware of going to mechanic and getting estimate on the damage for the insurance company to assess
However, same time, we plan on not fixing the damages as we were going to scrap the car in 6 months
Only the bumper is banged up, a chunk of it is twisted but my headlights work, dont think I would get pulled over a cop for having unsafe vehicle
I am positive the other guy will get their insurance company to completely fix up the car especially when I saw their mom yelling at them when arriving at the scene
my only concern now is, at this point, can the guy fully blame me and charge me for his costs? that would royally screw over my parents insurance rate
Also, will this affect my license? yes, G1 but cops didn't seem to give a crap and pretty much indicated for insurance companies to handle it
I mean they cannot give me a ticket all of a sudden and some fines i hope
any insight appreciated!
will try my best to answer any questions

you say a mercedes hit your car but then you ask the cost to replace two doors? sounds to me like you t-boned a mercedes with your car?? It actually does make a difference if you tell us what happend since insurance costs and who pays is based mostly on who's fault it is.....
The best course of action is usually to settle outside insurance but given that your estimate is $2,000 who knows.... Not sure the implications of you not being insured are but I would think its going to affect your parents insurance then.

My apologises this is what happened
My car making left turn from side street, between traffic as they gave me way to enter, stopped and not moving but angle and sticking out on yellow stripped lines
then bam, mercedes scrapped along my bumper all the way from passenger door to back passenger side
damage was severe on doors as they were going 80km on 60km road
they tried to avoid but guess they miscalculated distance and speed, dont expect much from 18 yr old driver
technicially in aspect, my fault completely
however, driver speeding on the yellow stripped lines, don't believe you can do that plus my car was not moving.
at least in my 20 years driving
that is where its debatable
like i said, I dont care about my estimates, going to trash the car soon, collision centre put down 1200
his mercedes, I have no idea on the estimate still but given its a luxury car, it won't be pretty
just want to know what happens next so I dont regret just forking out $5000 cash bills instead
yes, my fault for having car stuck out abit on the lane
however, his fault for speeding thru on the stripped yellow lines?

when you borrow a car, you also borrow the insurance... so your parents will be stuck with the rate increase next renewal if you are deemed at fault, which sorry to say but will probably be your fault since you entered into oncoming traffic. (a reprieve might be if you have accident forgiveness)
