have just bought something at a store and it's destroyed, will insurance cover it, or is insurance just for car/human damage?

Whenever you're behind the wheel, you're in the car, just like the IKEA furniture. Does this mean every time you want to drive, you can never be too cautious, and take a taxi instead?LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Drew_W for this post.

Are you seriously so worried that you'll get into an accident that you aren't willing to haul your Ikea stuff home in your car? Ming vases or percelain maybe, but Ikea? Most of their stuff is either cheap, or requires assembly and a nuclear weapon couldnt dent their boxes.
If you are so paranoid how do you get into your car in the first place? Aren't you more afraid of the damage to your body than your Oslo Bookcase?
You do know that your car is full of gas, right? That's flammable. I'd be careful if I were you.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked TotallyKiller for this post.

Who said I owned a car? I don't. I'm weighing the risks and benefits. The person I know whose car I can use has damaged my goods on two different occasions (no boxes), and the possibility of an accident on the roads when many people are driving drunk because of Summer, tells me no, I shouldn't worth risking it. I'm buying a ton of stuff, so why should I risk that kind of money? I'm not spending 10 dollars.
Thanks for 'caring'._______________

Seems simple to me. If you're that concerned, spend a little extra to have it delivered which will surely be insured. Problem solved.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked Emancipated for this post.

I just found it interesting that you seemed to be more concerned about your stuff than yourself. If you think an accident is likely than that should stop you from getting in that car right there, regardless of any stuff you may have with you.
I'd agree with the others in this case. Get them to ship it. And never get in that friends car again, regardless of your cargo.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked TotallyKiller for this post.

I was amazed by that too. People talked about be killed by drunk driver. Seldom, people saying losing cargo because of drunk driver although I am sure that can happen. Who care about I lose my leg? It is the stuff in the car that matters. ;)
On the other hand, he may not be in that car or even in Ikea. He may just write down a list of items and ask his friend to buy and deliver for him. ;)LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked gman for this post.

Actually no, I'm more concerned with the person who is driving to damage my goods, as I mentioned earlier, they have damaged them twice in two different transactions and on another occasion, not car related, they've also damaged my stuff. The possibility of getting into an accident was and is an after thought and just makes the person driving will most likely damage my goods like they always seem to even worse. Ever heard of weighing the risks and possibilities? Try it sometime, you may grow a braincell or two.
Why do you think I take public transit? It's the best mode of transportation. In all aspects while living in a large city. However, if I was in the suburbs, I'd probably ride a bike more often, as transit isn't very adequate.

What the heck? Ok so you aren't driving the car...you made it appear as though you were. Now why or HOW could your IKEA purchases be damaged MULTIPLE TIMES being transported in a vehicle? I'm royally confused.
