What kind of bug is this?

Found a second one of these little buggers... first was upstairs dead and the second this morning in the kitchen. It can fit in a dime and has ridges on its back lengthwise.

Anyone know what the name of this bug is? Any dangers?

That is not a box elder bug, they have a red/orange pattern on the back. I dont know what that is but it looks like a harmless beetle of some sort.
That's my 2cents worth

Vine Weevil, pest in the yard, probably wandered inside, just kill it.

Don't know what it is but they are common enough. The only likely danger is the annoyance of having them in your house.
Just catch it and toss it outside
In fact in Rand McNally they wear hats on their feet and hamburgers eat people

There is a beetle that looks very similar to your picture that gave me a nasty bite.
I usually just snatch up critters and toss 'me but this one gave me a sting that was significantly painful for a couple of days.
I don't know the name but I called it the 'snapping head beetle' because it's head would kind of click when it moved its head like the on off to a light switch.
