I turned unto a slight hill, bam - there is the cop. He gave me a ticket for 250 but no demerit points.
I'm hoping both of you are over 7ft tall. Otherwise I predict threads coming up on weight reduction. And I ain't talking about the car

Too much about your story doesn't add up.

Also extra points on the no exhaust.

What do you mean extra points about no exhaust ? explain what you're trying to say so I can clarify - check my previous thread and you will see me asking about a full replacement.

No problem for most cars to get that sort of speed. 400m is a quarter mile, most stock trucks will take about 15 seconds to cover that. And most trucks will get to 95kph in well under 10 seconds. A bad exhaust will leak and cause less back pressure, and there's no way a pathfinder weighs 5600. My old halfton pickup weighed 4500. I wouldn't think for a moment that a typical vehicle couldn't get to 95kph from a dead stop in 350m. I'm not saying you were speeding, but this line of defense is a dead end.

Gvwr is the maximum the vehicle can handle...

Never mind read your other post wrong, but either way..

If you are going to fight the ticket, get someone competent or pay someone.

The curb is 4300 which means the real weight is over 5000. I just want a calculation to see what's really possible within 350m and how much horse power one would need carrying that weight to reach 95. I just want help with some math. I have images etc of the exhaust being total crap because I went to the mechanic earlier in the day.

I really wouldn't go with the argument that my truck is too old to get up to 95 kmh over 350m stretch of road... You need to find something the officer may have omitted like whether they calibrated their radar with tuning forks before and after their shift, whether they got a visual estimate prior to aiming the radar or if they just relied on radar reading, etc.

Also do you even know if it was radar or laser that they were using? That affects your line of questioning.

If you're not sure what any of the above means then either hire a professional or pay the fine. You won't win in court with your excuse and you'll end up having to pay the court fee.

4300 + 530 + 70 (for gas) = under 5000 nowhere near your 5600.

Your exhaust excuse is laughable.

if my math is correct
d=0.35km
v2 = 95km/h
v1 = 0 km/h

d = (v1+v2)*t/2
0.35km=(0+95km/h)*t/2
t=0.007368 hours = 26.5 seconds

Are you saying your car is so slow, you can't reach 95km/h in 26.5 seconds? 26.5s is like an eternity.

GVRW is the legal max that the vehicle can weigh when loaded. If you're at 5600, then you have it loaded illegally full and deserve another ticket for being overweight.

From the looks of it your curb weight is 4300 tops, which includes a full tank of gas and all fluids. So with you and your sis, you're around 5000. That's counting 200lbs for accessories.

With the weight yes and hampered performance, that's what i'm saying. I would need a perfect run and a car in good standing to reach that going up a hill.. The slope that takes up 150 of the 350 is so steep you can't see traffic ahead. What this cop is saying is that I raced up the hill so quickly after turning - then switching lanes - to be at 95. Maybe it's possible - but I don't think my veh has the horse power to do that.

26.4m/s = 95kph
Using 26.5 seconds from above, your acceleration was about 1m/s/s.

Since f=ma, and we know m and a, we can get f.
I'll use 5000lbs = 2267kg
a = 1m/s/s
F = 2267N

Power is work over time
p = W/t

Work is force over distance
W = f*d
p = fd/t
p = 2267N*350m/26.5s = 55605w = 55kw

55kw = 75HP

I'm sure someone who did HS physics within the last 20 years would remember more than me and be able to do it a little more directly.

But it looks to me like it would only take constant application of 75hp to get a 5000lb vehicle from zero to 95kph in 350m. Like I've said this defense is a dead end.

Never mind your crappy vehicle argument, I'm stil having a hard time understanding your ticket.

To get a $250 ticket you have to be doing 30+ over and that carries 4 points, post a pic of your ticket.

The cop was being a dick because I questioned him - it was a 60 zone.

You might want to look for a new dashboard that gives you the correct speed in addition to your search for a new exhaust.
