A family member is looking at purchasing a 2006 Hyundai Sonata GLS V6 but as a used vehicle.
Is there any specific things we should look out for while inspecting this model year car?
Any Hyundai owners with this model year Sonata have any problems they would like me to know about? I read other user reviews and most people have said they loved this car and has provided them lasting service...

06 sonata
Had a 06 GL base model, purchased brand new. Ongoing electrical problems - lights, radio, etc would cut out randomly. Problem was never fixed, dealership replaced several expensive parts. Also rear brake pads and rotors wore out at 25,000kms, replaced with dealership parts and the front and rear brakes were gone at 40,000km. Estimated $1000 for complete brake job - that was too much and traded it in. Nice car overall, but get a good deal because resale value is poor.

What would be a good price for a 2006 Sonata GLS V6 Premium? Supposedly it has 28,000K on it. Guy is asking 13,500 for it but I figure 11,000 would be a sick deal?
Prices anyone?

I would just look else where, unless you are buying brand new with the manufacturers warranty I wouldn't buy a used Hyundai.

Just keep an eye on how high the KMs are and compare that to the service schedule. We bought our car and 10K kms later we had to dump $1200 for a tune up and a timing belt replacement.

I agree, everyone knows that dealers are overpriced. However, I did end up taking it to a local shop and he told me the same thing: front rotors, pads, rear rotors, pads, and something to do with the ebrake. The are was very gently driven and did not sit for long periods of time.

Just had guests here that own a front end/ brake shop in Calgary. Their experience was that Hyundai uses very cheap components in their cars. This is exactly what they told me when I suggested we had tested a Santa Fe. They said that commonly, rather than replacing pads, they find that all of the parts are finished. They couldn't understand where Hyundai's new found reputation for quality was coming from. They service all types of vehicles, so had no axe to grind.
