What is this metal piece under my car?

it's typically used as a jacking point. I wouldn't really trust it considering the condition of it.

That's part of the body of your car. It's the rocker panel pinch weld that joins 2 pieces of steel.

Looks like a Mazda 3? My moms old Mazda 3 had same rust and my jack would crumble those pinch welds when jacking. Absolute POS.

That’s quite the corrosion on the rocker panel/pinch welds. The jacking point already looks crushed or folded over. What car is this?

Some cars have a cutout that's reinforced for jacking, but could just as easily be crushed due to rust.

LOL so true, I have an 06 with over 200,000km and it's WAY worse than this. There's a reason I stopped changing my own tires, even after trying a pinch weld adapter.

On rusted cars like that I spread out the load with some wood, or jack it up from a suspension hard point.
