Hey guys, I was wondering if some of you could shed some light on this for me, or put the nail in the coffin even.
Recently I read up that Brinks, the armored trucking company had 5 spots available for hire at my local branch. (Driver positions) So either G4S lost some contracts or there was a substantial loss of employees. Anyways I was always planning on applying at some point however I wanted to wait longer since I figured I am still to young for the position, however with them looking for 5 people is there any better time to try?
The things I have going for me:
Clean Driving record - had my full license for 2 years
Clean Criminal record.
Currently Volunteer at my local police station, doing station duty. Dealing with people and learning about the work environment of a peace officer.
I have my Restricted and Non Restricted Pal for 2 years
I have my First Aid certification
Things I have going against me.
I'm 20 years old - I think that might be a bit to young. I've heard of 21 year old guards before, but not to often.
I do not have a credit rating, Not good and not bad.
I have no security related experience
So if anyone here has or currently working in the CIT (Cash in transit) industry would you be able to tell me of my chances of being employed?
P.S: In Canada we do not need a guard card or air brake license to apply.

They prefer to hire former UPS drivers with PAL license for those driver positions. To be honest, your chance of being hired into the gun team is slim.

Yah, you would have to just go to your local Police website or station and ask, some offer it and some don't. The process takes about 6-7 months before you can get on board. (background checks etc)
Yes I do realize that guarding money and receipts have nothing to do with law enforcement, nothing at all. The only thing Brinks or companies like Brinks does is show that you know what its like to have a gun and vest strapped to you. However I was talking to my Sgt. at the police station that I volunteer at and he was saying how he was previously a Brinks guard, along with 2 of the 5 current field trainers in our district, among quite a few other constables.
He said it's a ***** job, but it helps. =/
I'm still just trying to figure out what are my chances of being employed. Even if I don't get hired this time, I'll apply again next year.

Do I need a special License to drive your Vehicles? What if I do not want to be a Driver?
You require a regular “G” license in Ontario, a “Class 3” for Quebec and a “Full Class 5” for all other Provinces. Employees will be trained in many job functions including Guard, Driver, Messenger and ATM Technicians.you don't need dz license but i think it would help with driving such a heavy truckMy credit is not so good, will this disqualify me?
Each application is reviewed on an individual basis.
Do I require security training, private investigator or a security license to apply?
No you do not. If hired, we provide internal world–class training.
in fact they may not even let you drive until you do get some experience to avoid accidents (light suddenly turns red, people turning left cut you off and it takes 4x as long for a truck that size to stop)
and yes the job sucks my friend did it for g4s
he would do runs around london and mostly to toronto and back twice a day (a lot of sitting and nights)
when the g20 summit was in toronto he had to wait for bank of canada trucks because they had priority or something
so for hours on end him and his partner would sit in the truck in underground parking sweating until the other trucks left lol
