Aug 11th, 2006 11:56 AM #16Agreed. I'm a resident, and we make roughly $50,000-$70,000 depending on the year of training. However, many of us have to work over 70-80 hours a week on a regular basis (over 100 for many surgery residents) so when you work out the hourly rate it's not so hot. Plus, there are many new grads starting residency with 6 figure debts. This doesn't equate to having "way too much money" by any stretch of the imagination.
