What SUB for for JAMO C60 Concert series?

Hi, I was recently got a free subwoofer for my HT called a REEL RSS-8. After some testing with position I found this sub to be utter garbage. All my other speakers could go lower and sound clearer than this sub and it has some hiss from the amplifier. I currently have a Onkyo 876 receiver, Jamo c607 fronts, C603 rears and a C60 center. What kind of money should I be spending to get a well matched sub?

This is the free subwoofer I got: http://www.reelacoustics.com/Reel_Ac...e-rss8-blk.htm
These are my speakers: http://www.jamo.com/speaker-types/fl...ding/?sku=C607
My receiver: http://www.onkyo.ca/Products/model.p...class=Receiver

Ideally, I'd spend around $300, but if it's for the sake of quality sound I'm willing to save up too. I currently live in a condo, but I will be buying a home soon so I'd like the to sub grow with the new house. My current living room size is about 13 feet across, but it's open to the kitchen and walkway which is around 30 feet. I only plan to listen to this sub in the living room area, so does it matter how large the room is?

I've looked at DIY sub's and I'll admit the engineer and cheap ass in me wants to do a side project as well. I'm hoping I don't have to buy an expensive Jamo subwoofer. I've been told this is what I need http://www.jamo.com/speaker-lines/su...rs/?sku=C80SUB but it's price tag at $700+ makes me cringe. Any help is much appreciated

Look at canuckaudiomart.com for used subs. The SVS would be a good choice as it has a transferable 5 year warranty.
