All Mazda household here
Me 01 Protege LX Manual
Wife 94 626LX Manual
Former Cars:
89 Accord SEI --- Made it to 370000kms..engine and tranny were still good..body was a disaster
91 Protege -- made it to 270000kms
Looking to replace the 626. Mazda parts prices are insanely high..For ex..for replacement brake and fuel lines (total of 5), Mazda's latest price increase brought the parts costs to almost $1000. What a joke. They should be $50 each. My mechanic made a brake line instead.

I'd ride the bus.
he picks you up, and drops you off, he opens the door for you.
ring the bell anytime and he will pull over to let you off.
seats 24+ passengers.
air conditioned, heated._______________

I told her I'd consider the Passat if it has a good track record - We'd probably be looking at something in the 01-03 range...

Feb 17th, 2005 02:21 PM #29At 96,000km I changed timing belt and accessories, then about 2-3000 km later I changed the water pump. At 125,000km I had to change some small tubes for $120 and nothing else except wear and tear items: twice brake pads and rotors all around (even though we are not sporty drivers, just crappy materials) and twice tires, latest at 125,000. Oh yeah, I replaced the battery also, at like 120,000. A lot of things done lately, but I hope that's about it for a while.

I read that the 2001 models and after had a lot of complaints, which is why I would avoid those._______________
