What VOIP service do you have?
How much are you paying per month?
I'm leaning towards Primus VOIP.

So lets say if I sign up with a VOIP service, and ask them to transfer my number from Bell, will both my landline and voip phones ring until I cancel Bell's landline service or how does it work?

Not necessarily...
If you tell the VOIP provider that you want to transfer your # from Bell, then they will give you a temp number that you can only call OUT on. Once your Bell line is transferred over then the Bell line is disconnected on Bell's end as Bell doesn't own the # any more, and then you should be able to receive and send out calls through VOIP.
