what to wear on first date?

Men: what would you like to see on a woman at a dinner on the first date?

Real talk.

Not too much makeup, other than that it doesn't matter. I think more reserved is better for first date

i'd like to see no ring on her finger, I'd like it if she wore a nice dress tho.

Very little to no makeup and it depends on what we're doing.

How old is the woman? I would have very different responses if the woman were 25, 45 or 65.

A simple casual dress would be fabulous.

Minimal makeup, and really depends what you're doing that night. But of course make it look like you made an effort of deciding what to wear.

Where are you going on the first date? The beach or downtown starbucks or a 5 star restaurant? How old are you?

Vague question.

As everyone else is saying, it depends on where you're going/doing. You want to look nice, but not primped. i.e. natural makeup with a light mascara. Clothes that accentuate your strong points. You're going to make two major impressions: the first impression when you walk out to meet him, so find something with a nice silhouette. And a second impression when you're sitting across at a table having a conversation, so find something that frames your face and doesn't look too plain when you take away the lower half of your outfit. Beyond that, it really depends on your personality and personal style. You don't want him to feel self-conscious, but you also want to reveal something about yourself.
