We want an apology (public) more than compensation.
And the guy who said about food poisoning, i've never put a word about my friend vomited due to food poisoning, it can be due to stress but under that situation, you might too.
I would like to know if it's better to...
1) go to each table and notify other customer that their drinks might have cockroaches because ours does
2) shout it out loud and announce there's cockroaches in our drinks...
Or...
3) shut up and go.
If you pick option 3, good luck. You might have a chance of drinking the cockroaches

right... you could get more than $10,000? i'd REALLY like to see that happen... there's something needed called proof.... and honestly, your video and pictures don't really prove anything... it just proves that there's a roach in your drink.. doesn't show you where it came from, etc.
you will only be able to get more than $10,000 IF you can prove that the roach WAS consumed, and you got bodily harm from the incident... lol
what is your law suit gonna be for? psychological damage? can you really prove that you ate the roaches and that you had an illness directly resulting from it?
NO!!! read everything, I said all we wanted at the time was to speak to somebody in charge, so we can let management know and then leave
they could not produce a manager and gave us attitude ...
a lot happened after that, that made the situation personal...
and yes, we did call health inspectors..and if they can confirm the place's state of hygiene along with our police report...that is more than enough for a case...
and pls, dont' try to legally advise us, because we have already gone to three seperate lawyers with regards to this

Why are you so upset about this thread? You work there?
Honestly, we are waiting result from the Health Department (Inspector). They can check if the environment (bar/kitchen) were dirty enough to have cockroaches grow all over the place; OR, they can check if there's any chemical use within days to kill insects in those area.
None of us work for them before, nor do we have any conflict of interest against Destiny. I do know that it will be hard to prove WHERE does the cockroaches were coming from, but seriously, how often you see cockroaches in Canada? At least I haven't seen any in the past couple years, let alone I can find some under this weather condition.

it's a dirty place to begin with... everybody knows it... i mean, you'd be a fool if you were actually surprised that something like this happened.
Honestly, this has gotten way out of hand.... it's like going into mcdonald's and complaining and saying "where's my five star service?"
What you said is completely wrong. Yes, Destiny is not North 44 or Canoe but we are still paying money to eat/drink at these places. Just because were not paying $100 per person you are saying it's okay to have insects in our food?!
It is also not fair to say that this place is known to be a dirty place so if you go there you deserve what you get. That is absolutely absurd actually. Not everyone knows it's a dirty place. Regardless, this is Canada. We have regulations for a reason. People should be able to go out to a restaurant and not have to wonder if the place they're going to is "known" to be dirty.

I'm sure there's many places that are just as dirty as Destiny, if not even more. It's just that Destiny has now been caught and is in the crosshairs of what could be possible legal action.
I hope things work out for the customer and drive other places to clean up their act.
Plus, that's why other places put their glasses upside down on the racks to prevent "stuff" from falling in... :P

thank you,
some people just automatically assume that this is our ticket to make some money.....wtf?? this is about eating/drinking an insect...and then being defaced afterwards... some people may be receptive to this kind of treatment, some may like it...but we don't...u spit in our face, and this is how we're going to spit backkkkkkk
and we're not stopping here, we'll make sure if these guys are still in business there will be NOOO other living organism in their facilities except ppl

If this happened to me, I would've showed the drink to all the customers, seek for management and not pay for the drink.
Other places that I've went to, when we discover hair or insect or anything that shouldn't be in our food, they would remove that item from the bill.
What the hell is this?! Making somebody pay for a drink with cockroaches... Destiny is sick in their head... (maybe they've been consuming too many creepy crawly drinks and food.)

Don't worry about what those two posters are saying. You're always going to have a couple of *insert whatever you want to call them* that like to go against the grain and attack the victims. I've been on these forums long enough to know. They talk as if they know the facts, they know the law, they know EVERYTHING even though they're weren't there.
I hope you guys put these guys out of business. The last time I went there was probably a year ago and only because I was with friends. I would be so happy to see them shut down (and all these other dirty places) around here.
I've worked in the restaurant business and I understand the point you and friends are trying to make. They are the one's who mishandled the situation. They were totally at fault and they had to audacity to say (basically): "we'll give you 13% off your drink (wtf?) so you better take it because we don't know where those roaches came from. You guys could have put them in for all we know." Don't listen to those other guys (who are really the ones bs'ing). I can tell you that if I were another customer there and you came around and showed me what happened, I'd thank you and walk out.

I completely agree with what the OP is doing, going to the health inspector, contacting the company that owns the place in hopes of an explanation/reply/whatever, and possibly going to the media to alert the public. However, match you need to calm down before you spit something out on this thread that they can use against you.
As for all of you who are against the OP's actions, I can see that you are expressing your opinion on the matter but most of the posters and the OP+party are trying to ensure public health and safety. You CANNOT expect a food service location to be dirty for any reason at all. They have a duty to keep their whole establishment clean and free of any pests. If any get in the food, then there is no excuse because that is 100% proof of insanitary facilities. They also have a responsibility to ensure that some form of pest control is being used because it is required BY LAW. Pests will always come in and out of an establishment but if they can be controlled then you are in the green. If you have worked at a fast food restaurant (like McDonalds or Tim Horton's) then you would know that health and safety is the most important factor when running a restaurant/cafe/etc. There is NO excuse for having dirty facilities.
As for the OP and them running around to the other guests, maybe they didn't conduct themselves in a mature manner when going to the other guests but I believe that this was only done after they had been so rudely treated by the waitress. Informing the other customers in the shop that there may be pests in the kitchen may have saved them from the same fate. The OP may have overreacted when they did this but if they weren't treated so rudely then it wouldn't have had to come to it.

How do you know this?
Some people are CHEAP or don't want to throw out uneaten food
so they re-use food. It's possible. Just to save some money or something.
Cheap or unsanitary.
