What's the BEST security software for Windows 7 and SD CARD

Hi folks,

I'm not a computer geek and I have a little question here.

I need a VERY good security program for my SD CARD. The SD CARD will go in a PC computer and mostly Excel sheets and Word files. With which program is the best to make sure NO ONE can have access to my file if I lost my SD CARD?

Moreover,I bought a new netbook and I need a good security program. The windows 7 password at the beginning when you start the computer is it good enough or I do need something else so I can make sure no one will have access to my file in my computer if I lost it as well?

Encryption. If you lose your password, however, you might not be able to get access yourself.

Again, encryption. You can't keep them from logging on to your PC, but you can keep them out of your files.
