Since my Dad passed away we are selling a few things off, including his car. Mechanically it's been pretty well maintained, but it's the odds and ends that reduce its' value mostly
2003 Vibe
181 000 KM
Base model
Auto and air(works great)
Does not have power toys or key less entry
Retail on the car is about $5000, but what should I take off for these problem, and what is it worth AS-IS.
-Air bag light is on, I've been told it's usually something to with the wiring or under seat sensor due to corrosion, best case $60 to get scanned and reset as a one time error, or who knows.
-Broken flipper for rear view mirror ....confirmed $50 from a junkyard.
-Winter tires ONLY, no summers as they were worn out last fall.
-Radio light for the display, only 1/3 of the display is working but it still shows the time and station.
- minor rust under Drivers door step plate (looks worse because of water sitting on it after I sanded it)
-Minor rust under rear wiper.
The above 2 issues are beccause of the seals being torn, you can either add more hole further over and silicone so water can't get past and will drain from existing holes, or replace the piece.
So what's it worth?? PLEASE no little children with dumb comments, it's far from perfect, but it's also far from worthless.
Brent

It is a very basic 8 year old, almost 200K kms and exhibiting rust. Will it pass the automobile breathalyzer (drive clean)?
Not a little child here and I would be hard pressed to offer 5K.
Quick sale and get it out of your life fast? Offer it up at $4500 and ensure that the bill of sale you draw up clearly indicates "as is, where is" and that you will have no further responsibility for the vehicle after XX date. (this is to keep curbsiders and vehicle flip artists from selling the car and keeping their name out of it). Make two bill of sales, get both signed and you keep one.Last edited by Pete_Coach; Mar 8th, 2011 at 03:58 PM.

So you think getting $4000 should be an easy sale eh, I've had an offer for $3250, but he never left a deposit and seems to be stalling a little, I know my sisters think it was too cheap, so do I! He seems to be trying to take advantage of a family losing their father. I guess that might be pretty normal though, never saw vultures in Ontario in winter!
What's worse is both of my sisters need to sign because we are all required by law(as powers of attorney), AND we never had it up for sale, he came to the door!
Thanks, I'll throw it up for $4300 on Kijiji, and I'll take $4000.

Just got a call from my Sister, looks like we can't sell the car just yet, I guess something to do with the estate ......lovely!_______________
