As title says, I'm finally looking to upgrade my PC.
Definitely looking at laptop. It's mostly for surfing and movie watching. I also use it to remote desktop to work so it'll be connected to a 23" monitor and external keyboard and mouse about 80% of the time, so size isn't too big a deal - 15" is fine.
What's a good buy nowadays? Last machine I bought in 05 (Toshiba).

It depends on what's your main concern about your laptop.
Should rate the importance of the following on a scale of 0 to 5
---------------------
- Graphic Performance
- Build Quality
- Battery life
- Life expectancy
- Application Utilization (some people like 1 million windows)
- Mobility
- Processing Speed
- Temperature Management
- Brand Preferences
- Storage (though this shouldn't be a major concern because you can upgrade, but you want support up to SATA3 or 2 is good enough?)

For what you are using it for, you don't really need to spend more than 600. An Asus or Lenovo E530 laptop with the intel i3 cpu will be good enough.

I suggest you to buy a good Ultrabook. They are strong and easy to carry.

F1 - you say it's my job, like it's a bad thing! *L*
So Jim know's the best brand of Laptop, and you still haven't figured it out ... nothing wrong with that, man!
Great prices! I WILL recommend Asus - except the two listed here are 2011 models, and have Sandy Bridge, not Ivy Bridge. Not a big deal I guess.
I recommend Asus because of their warranty, and their build quality. In TO, their Customer Service is good too (i.e. you walk in, and it's fixed very quickly - I waited less than an hour once.)
