Are you sure they're legal? My understanding is that the Ontario HTA S.62(9) limits a motor vehicle driving on public roads (as opposed to private or off road) to 4 lighted lamps (you have 6 in total with high beams on) having an intensity of over 300 candela (not sure how this converts to watts, but you're likley over if you have more lighting power than a locomotive!).

Between a deer and a tree, aim for the deer.
Between a moose and a tree, aim for the tree..._______________
Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car; oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall; torque is how far you take the wall with you.

If you are going to swerve, aim for the back end of the animal. They're only going to go forward. At least if you're aiming for the back end they may start to move forward enough that you miss them.
If it's a small animal (dog, skunk, etc...) I don't even try to swerve. No sense going into oncoming traffic or the ditch and risking injury to myself or passengers to save someones pet in the middle of the road.
