What's your average water consumption?

Just curious as to what your average water consumption is on a monthly basis ...

I reside in Oshawa ... got my first invoice when I moved in mid-August ... showing an estimated meter reading of 3428 cubic meters.

I took a physical reading on September 19 and the meter read: 3409 cubic meters

In Oshawa ... invoices are issued ONCE every 3 months (quarterly) ...

So I was curious and went to take a reading this morning ... and it showed 3425 cubic meters ...

From the readings .. it is quite obvious from Sept 19 to Dec 06 (2-1/2 months) ... we ONLY used 16 cubic meters of water ... which works out to an average of 6.5 cubic meters each month!

When we moved into Oshawa in August ... I didn't water my lawn at all ... it was NOT required as the grass was kept well in both the front yard and back yard ...

Washed my car bi-weekly though (from end of August after settling in until mid November).

We do our laundry once every 3 weeks ... 2 loads ... and hang dry in the basement by the furnace ... saving electricity usage.

We do our dishes by hand and use the dishwasher to air dry the dishes.

25 cubic meters per month in the summer, 13 cubic meters per month in other seasons.

I know we all waste water in my household and haven't clamped down on it(working on reducing hydro and NG). Extra long showers, bubble bath, wash cars, water lawn etc are pretty normal routines.

11 cubic meters for the last 3 months, so 3.6/month.
Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

A lot of variables here? How many people in the household? I'm a family of 4 with 2 grown teenagers that shower 2 times a day. We use 85-95/per quarter.

I caught it but then compared my consumption to OP. I figured I was the wrong person to indicate what conserves water.

Was 1-2cu.m / mo when I was being a "miser" (and living alone). GF moved in, and it is now about 7 cu.m / mo (edit: averaged over the last 12 mos). Stopped caring about conserving water a while ago, since around 80% of my bill, currently, is water main / sewer levies.

Always 9 cubic meters a month. Two people, dishwasher everyday, laundry one load a week. I never water the lawn or wash my car at home.

In most cases a dishwasher will use less water.

lol, 2 showers a day? Tell them to masturbate out of the showers. Get a loud bathroom exhaust fan for them :P

Last 2 months usage was 17m3 so 8.5m3/month. That's with 2 adult and a child. Dishwasher on about 1/day, full baths for kid. Only conservation is new low flush toilets.
Previous 2 months was 27m3 so 13m3/month. Was watering heavily for newly sodded lawn.

My usage compared to others in local area of Oakville.

Interesting question. Over the past 12 months our consumption has been 27.3 cubic metres per month. That's a family with three adults, three cars and a large RV to wash and sometimes fill with water before a trip (285 litres), running the dishwasher daily, three low-flow toilets, showers and a couple of baths a month, 3-4 loads of laundry a week and a little bit of lawn watering (but one month used a ton of water because we were rejuvenating our lawn).

The city replaced our broken water meter with one which is easier to read. My wife is away for the last couple of days and I was curious about my consumption which was 19 and 41 litres. Projecting over the month it comes to 30 X .03m3 = .9m3. City of Toronto says a family of 4 averages .79m3 per day. That comes to 6m3 per person per month.

No idea, I haul my water, and haul 1500 gallons every 2 weeks to keep the cistern topped up. $9 every 2 weeks plus my time and gas. 5 of us in the house. If we have guests staying etc I might have to haul another extra load one trip.

We conserve, so why track, it does nothing but waste time.
