Has anyone noticed that early balding is becoming more and more commonplace?
5-10 years ago, I rarely saw bald/balding guys.
Now, when I look around, it seems like one out of every 5 guys has some degree of hair loss.

When did you start balding?
I know it's bound to happen, but I'm wondering when. I know one guy, 18 years old..Russian descent. His hair is REALLY THIN, today I noticed he was balding and then later on one of my friends told me the exact same thing.

It's not getting more common, people are just getting balder sooner. It has a lot to do with our stress levels and our intake of foods.
My dad and his brothers started losing their hair in their 30s. It's my third year in university and I'm starting to thin. I mean if I comb my hair, I'll get lumps of hair with it.
Those colouring marks are stupid. They only work if you're thinning. The only thing that i've noticed that works is Propecia. Albeit very slowly. If you decide to get Propecia - DONT. Get Proscar instead, same medicine - different dosages. Covered by insurance and 10 times cheaper even without insurance.Last edited by hskhan; Apr 17th, 2007 at 07:28 PM.

No one on my mom's side of the family is bald so I should be fine. (My grandpa and her brother still look good on the head)

My friend started to have thinning hair when he was 16 (in highschool). He couldn't understand it. His dad's and mom's side of the family don't have any baldness going on (at least his immediate family).
He started using Propecia and swears by it. Any of his friends that started going bald, he would recommend it and they have also had the same degree of success. If you see him now, you wouldn't even think of balding with him. His hair is thick, no thinning spots etc. He has been using for over 10 years now, no problems or side effects.
Proscar, if I remember correctly, is the same medicine as you say but one tablet of Proscar = 3 tablets of Propecia. My buddy takes Propecia but said Proscar is the same, you just need to cut up the tablet into 3 pieces.
One tablet a day. The reason why I know so much is because I have noticed my hair thinning and receding a bit as I get older, so he educated me on Propecia. I haven't decided whether to start though.

I first noticed among some of my friends in 2nd yr of university, but most that thinned/went bald, had it kick in in late 20's. At 36, I still have lots, but a little more forehead perhaps
