Be careful of a short. It looks like you stripped the wires really high up and they are only stuck on the tape.

Problem is chances of stuff from xscargo going wrong is just as high as the improvised rice cooker. :P

LOL! I thought you cooked it in a regular pot on hot stove.

In any case, may want to experiment cooking rice in a regular pot. The bottom layer is almost always burnt and it has a nice but different flavour. This is sometimes used in other dishes too.

But hey! Look at pic #2 and then the pic of the unit at xscargo. They look like pretty much the same gizmo.

But all that aside, I use the microwave to make rice. Doesn't everyone have one of those?

oh man.
That's a fire waiting to happen.
I've seen microwave rice cookers at the dollar store. It's just a simple plastic thing but apperently it works well.
