Where are all the 5K displays?

Other than LG's Ultrafine, are there any other options?

Also, why does only Apple carry the 5K?

Best Buy and Staples don't carry it.

LG is/was the only manufacturer of 5K panels. They never sold in large quantities. Seems like world settled on 4K, with 8K becoming next standard.
That said, you can still find old stock of Dell's 5K monitors on Amazon, as well as buy 8K monitor directly from Dell. They are still unaffordable to mare mortals, as they ever were.

Because other than Apple, no one cares about 5k.
What's wrong with 4k? Not enough resolution on 27 inch?

I'd be interested in an 8k television no smaller than 55". Anything smaller than that is useless! I don't even use my iMac in 4k/5k mode. On my 40" 4k I still need to upscale the text to 150% to make it usebale.

These standards confuse the heck out of me:

Base = 1920 x 1080
4K = 3640 x 2160 (2x2 more pixels) - OK so far
5K = 5120 x 2880 (2.66x2.66 more pixels) - so why isn't it 7K??
8K = 7680 x 4320 (4x4 more pixels) - so why isn't it 16K??

And why isn't the next logical standard 5760x 3240 which would be 9K??

edit: Google and a little more reading:

4K standard is defined by Digital Cinema Initiatives as 4096 pixels wide (1k being 1028 pixels)

But it has been usurped to apply to displays approx 4000 (ie 3640) pixels wide

So 5K is technically more correct at 5120 pixels wide

and 8k is totally incorrect because it should be 8224 pixels wide, not 7680

they add (correctly or not, whoever does it first gets to name it): 2times + 2 times = 4k, 4times + 4times = 8k
