My guess is that it is an old home that has had an existing line for a long time.MayorOfToronto wrote: ↑Inside? The demarc is almost always outside as it is Bell property and they might need access to it from time to time.

Different Bell departments & policy changes over the years.MayorOfToronto wrote: ↑Why would there be 2 demarcation points?
In my case when demarc points were first introduced, the black box in the inside of the house was considered the demarc point. Bell did not want to pay for every house to be retrofitted with external demarcation points. Once a team of squirrels chewed through the cable on the outside, the cable crew came, replaced the wire from the pole to the house. They then added a grey box to splice the wires in and Viola, a second demarc point.
Robbers was the same. Wire from pole all the way to inside the house. They were too cheap to send a crew out to the entire neighbourhood to install the boxes. The same boxes they used for filters for basic service.
