Where to buy bicycle parts online?

I recently got into mountain biking a bit, and am wondering if anyone knows of good online stores I can buy from to upgrade my bike. There seem to be very few stores in Canada that sell online, even on eBay. So far, Cyclepath and Mountain Equipment Co-Op are the only places I found selling parts online.

There is www.bikecanada.com (I have never ordered from them, but prices look decent).

In the US, www.pricepoint.com (shipping isn't the cheapest, but the really low prices on some of the things they sell makes up for it).

the best place for buying parts online for shipping to canada is a US retailer called jenson (www.jensonusa.com). they have good prices, price matching, and shipping is flat rate via ups.

the shipping fee you pay includes any duties you may have to pay, and jenson also charges you GST and PST on your purchase. basically, what you pay to jenson is what you pay to get your package to your door.

shipping is ridiculously fast (sometimes even next day, which frightens me).

if youre looking for shimano parts, then chain reaction cycles in the UK has very good prices, but shipping is rather expensive unless you buy over $350 CDN worth of stuff to qualify for free shipping.

Thanks for the suggestions, I checked them out. Bike Canada seems to have a good selection but has a poor interface (with few pics/descriptions) and only does phone orders, so not that flexible. Jenson looks good for big stuff, but for something small the $26 shipping kills the deal. www.perfomancebike.com is another big store I found that probably uses USPS, so I guess I have my options. I may be looking to buy new fork soon so might ship one to an Amerifriend if I can't find a good deal in Canada.

Amazing prices on Shimano parts. Fast shipping considering it comes from the UK. Make sure they specify bike parts on the package for customs.

Thanks MMM, that coupon thread at MTBR could come in handy, I've found that site great when looking up reviews of various components. So are you saying we can't be taxed on bike parts (except wheels) when buying from the States? If so then that's good news. And if duty free, should Jenson be charging the GST/PST at all?

All bike parts are duty fee, you still have to pay taxes.
GST and PST are on top of any duty you would have to pay.

Also used Jenson in the past with really good results. Their price-matching deal makes it really advantageous since they'll match any other online store so if you put some effort into it, you can almost always end up with a savings.

I have used Jenson, Speedgoat etc...but 99% of my bike part needs get covered by UniversalCycles.com now.

I have spent in the thousands with them over the past year and they are great, there customer service is excellent and their prices are hard to beat.

FYI - For those of you in BC, the only tax to pay is GST, there is no PST on bike parts here. I am not too sure about other provinces.

GST and PST are on top of any duty you would have to pay.

Bike parts only duty free, if they were manufactured in the USA. With a lot of things manufactured overseas, like in Taiwan or Japan, duties are due...at 7.5%.

Ital Tecno doesn't have too much variety when i comes to their selection, but they have excellent prices. They are based in the USA.

Shipping is quite reasonable. If you add some stuff to your shopping cart and go to checkout, they'll show you a chart of their shipping costs.

Ordered frame, wheels, parts from Jenson 4 times. Fast shipping if everything in stock, but if not you can see it in the order status a fresh info when wait stock arrival.

Once ordered from www.BikeBling.com. One item was not in stock for a long time without online information. Good thing - no problem to cancel order.

www.universalcycles.com not as good as Jenson from my one order experience. Shiping is expensive (UPS) and I paid taxes above upon delevery. Things can arrive in few boxes in different days. Subscribe for their coupon information it can save 10-15% or maybe more in other months.
