It's been a year since this was discussed. Anybody has an update on places to buy a genuine EN-EL14 for a Nikon D5200/D5100 camera?

Certified Battery or bifficus on ebay has some very good batteries. And for the price they are hard to beat.
i've been using a pair of their batteries and a charger in my Nex7 (almost 2yrs ownership and gets a heck of a lot more use than my D800) and another pair for my D800. Thats 4 batteries and 2 chargers for little more than what it costs to buy a single OEM branded battery.

DSTE sells by Amazon, they seem to be around for years and make reliable 3rd party battery. I don't trust ebay because you never know what you get, lithium-ion battery is dangerous. If you buy from ebay, make sure it is from established ebay seller with good rating. You can even find Henrys on ebay.

I just saw an Energizer EN-EL14 battery in a Staples in Vancouver for $39. I can't find it on their Canadian website, but in their American one they have the description:
http://www.staples.com/Energizer-ENB-NE ... duct_56809
Although in the US it's $49.99, so it's cheaper in Canada for now, surprising. I might give it a shot and see how it works.
On a related note, Bestbuy from the US sells this variation, which takes 4AA batteries or 2 EN-EL14 batteries and connects to the Nikon camera, it looks great for travelling:
