Where to buy SUPER WARM peacoat?
Does anyone know where to buy a very thick and warm peacoat in Toronto?
I looked at some from GAP and I don't think the jacket can protect me from the cold weather during winter. It looks too thin.
Thanks

look around more... i have a super thick peacoat from GAP
it's able to keep me plenty warm at sub zero DRY winters... but it's VERY heavy (compared to my other technical gears anyway)

Sterlingwear. They manufacture peacoats for the US Navy so it's guaranteed warm. That plus personal experience.
Don't listen to their size guides though. If you want a slimmer fit, size down one from your usual suit size.
And try to ship to a friend in the States, 'cause otherwise you'll get raped by UPS for duty and brokerage fees ($60 motha****a)
For perspective: I wear size 34 suit, and I got the jacket in a size 32r. Fits perfect, except armholes are slightly too big for me. That's to be expected though, since I have really really skinny arms.

Pick something with at least a 100% Wool and then the heavier the material, the warmer.
I have a Claiborne that wear in the winter all the time but it is harder to find a 100% now and they will cost more.

I have a nice jcrew. I'm a 40 but wear a small and it's just fine. Nice and thick and you can get the one with thinsulate lining as well. Look around on ebay for deals. Brand new they're about US$255. Well made and highly regarded.

I got mine on sale last year at fairweather for $90 and it is really warm, I also like it because I can wear other long sleeve/ light knit sweaters under it without it being too bulky......

Ditto the J Crew suggestion. I have a couple of J Crew wool coats with the thinsulate lining and they're great if you can't wear a parka but still need to be warm.

Order from them:

Closest thing you get to military pea coats.
If you want it to be slim fit get 1-2 sizes down.

Go to any army surplus store. They carry the real deal. I see you are in Waterloo. If you can get to Toronto, there are lots of places like that which sell many diferent types of peacoat. DO NOT buy a GAP, BANANA or any retail chain peacoat. They are more about fashion than function.
If you have some money and want a killer one that will be handed down to generations, get a SCHOTT leather peacoat with thinsulate lining. That baby is on my wish list. They can be had online.
