Does anyone know any locations (other stores) you can purchase a walmart gift card aside from a walmart store itself??

Thank you in advance,

I don't think Walmart allows them sold anywhere else. Occasionally, they pop up at cardswap.ca

I'm curious as to why you don't want to buy them at Walmart? They allow you to buy with credit card, and most Supercenters are classified as grocery stores in case you get bonus points.

I avoid walmart like the black plauge. I would give my mother a giftcard to walmart ($200 or so) as gift and if I could buy them at shoppers I would.

If Walmart is close by, why not make a small purchase there with your Visa and then check online to see if you got the bonus points? In 2009, very few Walmarts were Supercenters - it was once they added grocery that they became considered "grocery stores". My local Walmart converted last year, and shortly afterwards, my MC considered it a grocery store.

I don\t think you're going to have any luck buying Walmart cards outside of Walmart.

So basically you want to shop at Walmart, but you're worried you won't get the bonus points, so you want to do it by buying a Walmart gift card at a store that does offer bonus points?

My BMO MasterCard classifies the WalMart that we frequent as "Groceries". (Trafalgar & Dundas, Oakville)

super centre walmarts are usually classified as grocery, while regular wal marts are not

Reviving an old thread!

My understanding is that Visa and Amex do not consider Walmart Supercenters to be "grocery stores." At which grocery store or gas station can I buy Walmart gift cards?

Still cannot buy Walmart gift cards at non-walmart stores.

That's a great idea to buy Walmart GC at a non-Walmart store (grocery store in particular, such as Superstore, Safeway, IGA, etc).

That's because using a cashback VISA card, Walmart is not considered a grocery store and thus cannot earn the full cashback with a VISA card.

If I can buy a Walmart GC at Safeway, earning the full cashback (say 4% for a 4% grocery cashback VISA card) from the purchase at Safeway and then use the Walmart GC at Walmart.

If I use the VISA cashback at Walmart, I would not earn the full cashback (just 0.5% or 1% depending on the VISA card), so buying a Walmart GC at a non-Walmart grocery store is a great idea.
