Any art store carries blank canvasses (white canvas stretched across a wooden frame). Is that what you're looking for?

In the spirit of RFD, hit the dollar stores. They often have various sized stretched canvases which you can pick up for a fraction of what the art stores charge. Check them out as the larger stores seem to have about 12 different sizes and they would work great for that kind of project. Just get a good spray adhesive and apply your work and then get a spray protective coating on them.
Otherwise if you are just putting a large picture onto smaller pieces, you can use just about anything. For instance, go to a lumber store and find some MDF and have it cut to the size you want. You will need to seal the side you want to use to prevent any glues from warping or bubbling it but it's also cheap and easy. Another alternative is to go check out the sheets of solid foam insulation. You can cut those too but you need a special spray adhesive that would stick to foam.
In other words, lots of options, you don't need actual frames, you just need something you can cut to size that is smooth enough to take a picture being applied and light enough to hang easily.
Meanwhile if you do want frames (as in having a cover on them), check out places like Ikea for their arcylic frames and see what they have.

If you can find the canvass at a good price, I can make the stretcher(which the canvass is on at good price. pm me if you want details.
Picture framing is my business.
What you see in those pictures could be anything from, a picture mounted on foamcore, self adhesive foamcore, picture printed on canvass and then stretched, to a plaque mount or a float mount.
What are you trying to do exactly?

I thought that since I was inspired by this thread to do my own rasterbation project I thought I'd post my own results:

More information on my blog: Rasterbating the Battlestar Galactica “Last Supper” picture.
To answer the question directly, I used eight of these Pre-stretched Canvas Value 2-Packs from Curry's, but what I should have done is gone to the Dollarama at Queen/Sherbourne and bought the identical blank canvas boards they have there for $1 each.

There you go. Gee I told you about dollar stores in my post... didn't you trust me? Anyway, I wanted to make one comment and that is it seems to be hung way tooo high. It should be eye level when sitting which would put it down quite a bit. As it is now the top edge is above the door trim. Lowered another 6 or 8" or so would balance that wall much better.

that is exactly what U want to do on my huge empty wall, except instead of making it one big picture, I was going to choose a variety of bright coloured photographs and take zoomed in details.
I just hope I can find those canvases at the dollar store because the wall I have is about 5ft by 5ft in size

I admit it, you were right! I could have saved $15 or so going with your suggestion, but alas.
It definitely looks high in the photos, but here's the thing about that - the couch I have facing the TV sits pretty low to the ground. From the perspective of someone sitting on it, the location is much more suitable (though still a little high).
Definitely a fun weekend project to take on.

Double-sided tape. There are two varieties of it - temporary and permanent. I went with the permanent stuff and it seems to do a good job.
Spray adhesive is another option, but in practice doesn't seem to do well when combined with photo paper.
