I heard it's good with increasing your metabolism by a little bit and helps with appetite. I wouldn't mind a cup a day. It's probably better than the extra large timmies I get everyday.
Do they come in packages or are they better with raw leaves? What are good places to get them?

Many tea experts say you should infuse your own tea. Personally, I couldn’t be bothered most of the time so I just use tea bags – either Lipton Mandarin orange green tea) or Tetley (Pomegranate green or Decaf).
However, from time to time I use loose leaf. You could try teaopia for loose leaf.

If you are looking for more selection than teopia, check out http://www.teacuppa.com.
Edit: Make sure not to brew your green tea too hot. Green tea should be brewed at 70°c (158°F) to 80°c (176°F) for about a minute. The water temperature will affect the flavour and amount of caffeine that is leached from the leaves. Green tea contains the same amount of caffeine as black teas, it is because of lower brewing temperatures that reduced caffeine levels are reported. You can get several infusions from quality leaves ( you do have to increase the length of brewing time though) so don't throw them away after a single use.Last edited by almostfreeman; Jan 30th, 2008 at 12:30 PM.

Ten Ren Tea!
They are pricier than other brands like lipton but it's cuz it's way better quality and if you're willing to pay a little more then you can get some ten ren green tea with ginseng in it.

+1 on the tenren.
we've tried several brands from tenren. The manager at the dundas store is great. She hasn't failed us yet in her recommendations. we're on a matcha style green tea now (with rice).
The lipton stuff is poor value. It is generally tasteless, literally.

Does this taste similar to the tea served in Japanese restaurants? Because everytime I buy green tea (albeit I've only gone to major grocery chains) it tastes very bland.
With that being said, OP don't buy Lipton or PC brand green teas if you're looking for something good.

Hit your local costco and find their branded Kirkland Signature Japanese Green Tea. I was skeptical at first but then realized it's made by Ito En.

Try Yame Tea. They have many varieties, and comes in leaves and powders. They have a website you can order from, www.yametea.com They are based out of Alberta, but when I checked out the site it did say they ship out. Now this is also an expensive tea, I have the white can of Organic Yame Green Tea Powder, and in the local store here (Gym Junkie), it is $32.99 plus tax. It is about 50 servings in the tin, and I just mix mine with bottled water. I surprisingly like the taste (kind of addictive). It is a little bit of an earthy taste IMO. I am not sure about all of the drastic weight lose stories, but honestly do feel alot better drinking it. I have about 2-3 500ml bottle of water mixed with this powder a day, along with about 5-6 more bottles of just plain water. This is just my own opinion, but I think it is worh a try.

I'm not a big tea drinker of any kind, but when I do, Tazo Teas are the best for flavour. Hard to find, I buy it at Starbucks and I think I've seen it at Zehrs. I don't find Green Tea tasty at all, rather bland usually, but all the Tazo teas I've found (my favourite being Passion) have a stronger flavour, including the Green Tea. It's a bit more expenseive than most, and even moreso at Starbucks, but worth it to me. Might want to give it a try. At Starbucks you can order just a cup, so you can see if you like it before buying a whole box.
