What is the difference between a "hoagie" and a sub? I know subway has some kind of chicken finger sub.

Where can you get Hoagies in Toronto?
I'm looking for a place that has the american/Buffalo style hoagies and also the chicken finger subs. Can't seem to find anything equivalent to the ones in the states. Post if you know any in Toronto or surrounding areas.

Wikipedia:
The hoagie is a type of submarine sandwich. It generally consists of an elongated roll (called a "hoagie roll", similar to a baguette), oil, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, sweet or hot peppers, oregano, mayonaisse and a selection of cold luncheon meats. In many areas the default cheese on a hoagie is Provolone, while in others it is white American cheese. Cheese-only hoagies (Provolone, American, or Mixed) replace the meat with extra slices of cheese._______________

Give me a Quizno's Italian sub on white bread and I'm happy. Actually, I had one tonight.

i dont think youll be able to find one...
Only main stream submarine places.
MAybe if you make your own by getting fresh ingredients from a deli, and a special style of bread from a bakery.
Ive had no luck finding my "montreal style" pizza... You know the one with so much cheese and pepperoni that u have to eat it with a knife and fork?_______________

Used to be a place called The Hoagie House in Kingston about 10 years ago when I went to Queen's but I havent been able to find anything like it in Toronto.
Belly Buster Subs on Yonge around Yonge BLVD. makes pretty good subs, but not hoagies per say.

this was on the cosby show
For those of you who were born in the 70's or 80 & remember watching the cosby show. A Hoagie is a type of greasy sub sandwich similar to a philly steak that Heathcliffe Huxtable regularly ate on the show & his wife Clare was against it cuz it was high in calories & cholesterol.

Well...the closest thing I've ever found to the hoagie description is at a Fortino's Deli.
Here in Brampton, we have a Fortino's deli which serves a family sub. Much cheaper, and much more fresh than a Subway sub (I remember when a 12" cold cut combo was $3.99...sigh).
Well anyways, provalone cheese, three types of meat (and they are really liberal about the mean...scary stuff! Almost like a Super!), your choice of toppings and get this...served on an actual fresh baguette from the bakery! (If you like, you can go to the bakery and grab a baguette and go back to the deli.) That's over 36" worth of sub for get this, $10.99!
Great at night as an alternative to Subway or Mr. Sub.
Oh yes...you can get it heated if you like as well!
Cheers!
Tano

I too have been on a quest for a good Hoaggie place around here.
The closest I found to a good Philly Cheese steak is at Montana's.
It's smaller then what you would get in Buffalo but it comes with two sides (mash potatoes, corn ....) for about $11.00.

Chico's Pizza.
When I lived in Toronto I would order hoagies and pizza from there.

Nice. I love the Hoagie House. Their double steak and cheese is a real winner. I don't think there is anything in TO that is similar.
