I contacted intel customer support when my heatsink broke a couple years ago. They sent me a new one next business day, no questions asked. Very good service.

Go to where you bought the CPU from and see if they will give a replacement, if not, contact Intel.

I have those phone #s but they are US based as well as the mailing address. Detail procedure of RMA is not explained on the website. If I have to send my CPU first to the US and then waiting for a replacement, dat will surely kill me.
I called the number today and suddenly found it is independence DAy....wth.../_\_______________

Email them... they're usually helpful and quick to respond.
BTW, what's wrong with it?

It must be a problem with either CPU or PSU.Last edited by kevin_Lee; Jul 3rd, 2006 at 06:34 PM.

I'd blame everything before the CPU... try a different PSU before you go on a wild goose chase. Nothing more irritating being convinced it's one component causing the problem, waiting for a replacement, and then finding it wasn't.
Intel's QA is very good. Never seen nor heard of a DOA Boxed Intel CPU.

Jul 3rd, 2006 06:35 PM #10Nope, I guess the heatsink wasn't worth much to them and it was less of a hassle for them to just ship a new one.

Jul 3rd, 2006 07:38 PM #12Ok, in that case, barring any self-inflicted issues, CPUs don't die. Period.
