Where to sell old PC?
I was just curious if anyone knew where or what computer stores in the GTA buy used/older computers?
I have two older towers from siblings that are perfectly working just sitting around.
I rather not have to deal with the back and forth of selling on the BST, plus its highly inconvienant for me to have anyone come to my house (rather meet some where but dont know where i can lug and set up a montior and tower in public) and would just like to drop it off somewhere to get some cash for them.
Any ideas appreciated

I sold a few old computers and a box of parts recently. I just went through the local yellowpages for computer repair. Found 5 or 6 places that bought used stuff.

"blackbox 2.2 aluminus"
Core i5 2500K / Asus P8P67 / 8 GB DDR3
GTX 470 / Samsung 2253LW, 2253BW
Intel X25 40GB, Kingston SSDNOW 64 GB / Win7Pro64

Would you have any names?
I tried to dig through the yellow pages, but i dont see any of them listing "buying" as one of the things that they do, mainly just repair and stuff.
Anything local in the GTA would be awesome
Did you find the price reasonable? In terms of what they offered you?

Unfortunately I don't live in the GTA, so I can't help you in that regard. However, I am sure if you look under "Computers" in the yellow pages you can find some independent businesses that fix desktops / laptops. Don't hesitate to call these places and ask even if the ad/description seems strange or contrary to what you would look for. Just call everyone and ask if they buy used computers/components.
In terms of pricing, I sold a box 2 feet^3 of old parts (isa, pci stuff, old mp3 players, 1gb hard drives) for $40 to one guy. Another guy bought the following for $150.
asus a8s-x
amd 64 3000
3*512 ddr400
radeon x800
I also sold 3 p4 motherboards for $40, a stick 128 MB pc100 laptop ram for $10, and a 15" monitor for $10.
I had one bad experience trying to haggle with a shop owner. I basically re-lived the Russell Peters routine about going to Pacific mall. Look it up on youtube and avoid at all costs.

I would take a charitable receipt for my old stuff. Selling is such a hassle.

When OP thought it's hassle to sell his stuffs on BST here, I wouldn't think he would go through the troubles to use Kijiji.
My 2 cents.

if you have enough time to post on rfd, you have enough time to post on kijiji/craigslist/bst.
if you have enough time to go to a store to drop it off, you have enough time drop it off at a persons house.
sure there is hassle involved but the extra money you would get would negate it.

if you are really want to sell it at a store, you should post the spec of what you got here so you have an idea of what to expect because going to a store might not even be worth your time

Almost no charities take old PCs and electronics. They have to be quite new for them to take them, otherwise they are stuck with disposal of them.

Agreed. Kijiji is quite terrible. There is no accountability.

Craigslist of course. eBay's Kijiji is a terrible ad-filled clone.

if youre unwilling to post on websites and such
try heading over to college and spadina area...
pretty much on college (right outside of chinatown)
there will be a bunch of computer stores in that area
many of them are small stores and may be willing to buy your tower off of you
