I'm wondering if there's a direct connection between the country of manufacture, and the quality of the LCD. Please reply with your country of manufacture and how you'd rate your monitor.

LCD Panels
There are only a few major players in the LCD market.
Samsung
LG
NEC
AU (Taiwan)
Acer (BenQ)
There are also two from China, the name escapes me right now.
Chances are, any LCD you buy will have the panel supplied from one of these major players. The only difference between brands are the casing (plastics) and the controller (electronics)
There are also several grades of Panels. All panels can yield bad pixels. A Grade means that there will usually be no more than 3. B grade is 6 or less.
There are also three types of Panels
TN + Film (Twisted Nematic Film)
IPS (In Plane Switching also know as Super TFT)
MVA (Multi-Domain Verticle Alignment)
Each one has its advantages and disadvantages. It is a long disucssion, so I will not get into it right now. But just to summarize.
The most popular is TN + Film, it is the cheapest to produce, gives the fastest response time. Most low end models use this type of panel.
The other common one is MVA or a variation of it. It usually has a lower response time, but give better viewing angles and brighter picture.
If you want more details send me a PM, I will be happy to answer any questions.
