I have always received free samples from healthy planet, and actually from everyone I've ever ordered from.

I checked that supplement source site and maybe apart from any specials going on, (with cheap protein) its prices suck. I prefer Optimum Nutrition for whey and their prices are ridiculously expensive.

Look at NationalProtein.ca and you'll see (1) huge selection, and (2) prices that can't be beat. At least, that's with respect to the stuff I order.

Looks like deals season is about over.

A few jars of IST still left: http://www.supplementsource.ca/Cheap_wh ... n_s/47.htm

Only the natural flavour of the Whey Sensation remains.

Everything is sad now.

Try this:

Not the isolate but the protein content is almost the same.

Same as the one you mentioned, but cheaper.

The 2lb isolates Rudee mentioned are $36.99 vs $44.99 at gnc.
The 5lb you mentioned is $59.99 vs $74.99 at well.ca

http://www.healthyplanetcanada.com/stor ... rers_id=15 They have free shipping for orders over $39.99.

I don't endorse this website because of how they dealt with my and others orders, but some have ordered from them and had no problem at all.

After reading through a bunch of this thread, I'm unclear on whether there's somewhere online with (non-sale) prices comparable to canadianprotein.com, but without the flakey shipping. Is there?

Costco has several brands of protein bar ranging from $0.80 to $1.25/bar (in 12/18ct boxes), as well as quasi-protein bars like cliff bars & such

I've been making mine myself and they taste okay...nothing like the "chocolate bars" from the store but they fill me up. Do a quick search and you'll find some recipes.

Edit: the above poster is right, Costco seems to have pretty good prices on protein bars!

Never even thought of that. What's your estimated cost per bar by making it yourself? Do I need a mixer?

I made my own once but I encountered 2 issues: 1) they can't keep for long and 2) they were stringy like spiderwebs when separating cut pieces. Did you have any issues with yours, Melkor?

The recipe I Currently use is a no bake recipe that calls for chocolate whey powder, cottage cheese, oats and natural peanut butter.

Unfortunately it has to be kept in the fridge and maintains a cookie dough like consistency.

My way around this is to freeze my batches an take one out about an hour before I plan on eating it. It's cheap, virtually sugar free and pretty tasty, you can't taste the cottage cheese. I estimate cost to be around 0.50/bar or less. One batch makes up to 8 bars depending on size.

If you search homemade protein bar recipe it's one of the first you come across. If you want to take it on the go, obviously this one would be a poor choice. I have a freezer at work and take them out as I need them.

As for baking, I've run into issues but I've only tried a couple recipes a few years ago. I am going to give it another shot when I have some time. I've got my hands full right now with this and that so haven't had an opportunity to revisit the recipes. Just try something that works for you...obviously baked would be the better option for on the go, but the recipe I am using is definitely working for me! Super filling too!

Do you remember which products and their prices?

I don't remember noticing any deals last time around.

I have heard that Craze is pretty good. I have never used a pre-workout (apart from coffee in the past, as well as caffeine tab's) so I can't say if it's any good. But reading about it online sounds like guys like it, and it works. No idea.

Healthy Planet IN STORE. Their online price is inflated. In store, the 5 lbs tubs are $51.99, at least at the Dundas and Dixie location.

I haven't bought protein bars from Costco for quite a while, but when I'm grabbing my wife's fibre one bars I usually have a glance at them...even at regular price they seem to be priced a lot less than most nutrition/supplement stores. I used to buy bio protein or whatever they're called back in the day...the Chocolate peanut butter was so good. Other than the fact that I want to cut down sugar, I don't really have the disposable income to buy them anymore another reason for the homemade ones!

The Clif Builder's Bars (Clif's protein bars as opposed to their energy bars) are very good, natural bars and well reviewed on BB.com. Costco carries them.

Off the top of my head, Costco West (west of Manitoba) carries the following:

'Premier Protein', 290 cal, 30g protein, 8g fat, 25g carb (9g sugar, 3 fiber). These were ~75c each recently, back up to just over $1 each now tho
They also have the 30g Premier Protein ready-to-drink casein shakes, prices range from $1.10 on sale to $1.30ish when not.

Bio Protein (I believe the 21g protein bars, dont have any handy) Also around $1/each

Cliff's Bars (regular, not builders, 66 cents each this week, closer to 90c regular)

Genisoy, Larabars, and about another 5 varieties of bars that are more snack/meal bars than what we'd consider "protein bars"

I remember those! I don't normally consume protein bars but I've had the MLO Bio Protein bars and they seemed to be the most palatable amongst the various other ones that I've tried from Costco. Their taste and texture seemed to improve further if I put them in the freezer.
