White males discrimination
http://redensign.wordpress.com/2010/...eed-not-apply/
As most of you know, not only RCMP, but all government positions are actively discriminating in almost all the fields. All applications have a questionaire "are you visible minority/aboriginal/gender". However this seem perfectly acceptable. Yet if there was a job catered towards whites males there would be an outcry and legal battles. Heck, even if private companies would do this (discriminate against whites to achieve a race target) would be subject to legal battles.
Last time I checked discrimination works both ways?
Just some food for thought.
I also thought Canada would be the only country where this could happen, but apparently its the same in Britain (what a coincidence, both countries serve the same queen)

I am against ANY form of discrimination. In my book, all applications should be treated fairly and there should be no such "targets". If a chinese man is more qualifications than a white man then he should be hired. If minorities or females are not interested in applying for policing work for whatever their reason may be, then that should not change anything. If they are interested in applying, then it should only be looked at from a skillset and ability point of view, be it white, black, female or any other combination.
Then again, from what it feels, if you are white male, you are very fast becoming a 2nd class citizen._______________

I'm a white male, and i totally feel that if anyone complains about discrimination, they are just being lazy & making excuses as to why they can't get jobs.

Lol, it's funny how when I went to my local Passport Canada branch, all the employees I saw were either women or non-white men.
Very, very strange.

Your entire argument is predicated on the fact that it's an even playing field already so focusing hiring on minorities is a form of reverse discrimination. That's incorrect.
If you acknowledge that discrimination is currently occurring, then reverse discrimination simply counteracts what's occurring, and the field is level.
It may not be fair or right or anything, but to argue that, without any controls, discrimination won't occur is patently ignorant._______________

These programs are getting out of control. There saying its alright to be racist against whites but not against minorities. The best person should be given the job, it shouldn't be based on race. It is very alarming the amount of minorities who are working for the government.

Wasn't there a news article a while back that stated that people with a non-white name (not John, Jacob or Ryan, etc.) had a lower chance of getting a job interview after handing in their resume compared to those with Western/white names?

It's an insult to minorities for these policies to exist as it implies that they require a boost to get jobs. It simply reinforces stereotypes and creates the perception that minorities are only hired to fill quotas.
The best person for the job should be the one who is hired, period.

I remember years ago the police were recruiting Sikhs as they were not represented on the force and it was believed that it would help them make bridges with the Sikh community. It made sense. Eventhough the Sikhs had not initiated this there was an interesting reaction of people putting them down as wanting special priviledge, requesting uniforms that would incorporate their dress and so forth.
