Good Lord. RFDers really have no idea what "prep" means? I've seen this word tossed around so many times, always in the wrong place.
Ralph Lauren IS preppy
J. Crew IS preppy
J. Press IS preppy
Brooks Brothers IS preppy
American Eagle is NOT preppy
Abercrombie/Hollister is NOT preppy
LRG IS DEFINITELY NOT preppy
I am irked.

yeah LRG is definitely not preppy
but i disagree, I would say American Eagle, Abercrombie, Hollister are all preppy just on a tighter budget than Polo

I'm with Fabz, I wouldn't call abercrombie/hollister/ae preppy. "Middle class student-wear" perhaps. Distressed logo-polos and jeans are not preppy. Budget-preppy makes as much sense as black-WASP. On the other hand, perhaps black wasp does make sense.

How is raggedy clothing/beach wear considered to be preppy? Polo is way cleaner than any of those brands. I would consider them as casual as nothing more.
