Speaking of spotting fakes, I actually saw my first fake Canada Goose being worn by somebody today. Despite all the fakes I have seen on eBay and Kijiji, every jacket I've seen being worn in real life here has been authentic until the one instance this morning.
It's -15°C today and I wore my favourite leather jacket that I typically wear in spring/autumn (although I just about panicked when I messed up the zipper alignment), along with a toque. It's all about acclimatization and getting your body adjusted to ever colder temperatures and/or wearing less than overkill. As soon as it hits 10°C, I'm breaking out the shorts and sandals.
At this rate, I'll really only need a down parka when it's -20°C or the beginning of winter when the first bouts of cool weather FEEL like -20°C. Starting to reevaluate whether I need to keep three of the damn things.
