I am interested in a Bold 9900 so I checked Kijiji today and found that people are dumping them for like $300 bucks each. It is even cheaper than iphone 4 which has been out for years.
This phone is out for only a few months and sold for $600+ new. What is wrong with the Bold 9900? Is it really that bad?

Why are BlackBerry phones so cheap on the secondary market?

It's lagging behind the other good phones android and apple.
You can't even do wireless hotspot with BB

Yeah and that's the problem, which is why BB's are so cheap and losing their value. Half of my friends are jumping ship from BB to android/iphone, the other half are waiting for their contracts to expire/HUP time to ditch BB.
People want more than an email/texting phone now and BB has failed to accommodate the majority; my best friend has 4 months to go before he ditches his BB 9700 and he swears he won't ever go with them again. He can't even watch youtube or do web browsing quickly, and his brother who has a 9900 constantly complains about the battery life and (still) poor performance. Meanwhile other flagship phones from apple/samsung etc are boasting about their speed and awesome screens, although they still have battery life issues (powering those 4"+ screens!). There's just no advantage to having a BB anymore, they get about the same battery life as an iphone and do way less, in exchange for BBM?

I've had a BB for five years now..and I have switched to the Galaxy Note. The difference is incredible. But the emailing/texting/calling/reliability part isn't as good on the Note than BB. My Note constantly needs a recharge, texting is so much easier on the BB, calling volume sucks __________ on the Note. The Note fits more of my lifestyle now..but in the future, when I don't need fancy apps, I'll probably choose BB over the Note. The Note is actually too much of a distraction lol ='(

The poor battery life is probably caused by a downloaded app.
I downloaded ping (the chat program) from the app world, and it sucked the battery life like it's nothing on my 9900. Once removed, the battery was fine.
No advantage ? If you type a lot of email or text, there's the #1 advantage there. People just buy android and iphones because they take better pictures/videos and play games on it.

I really don't know why most of my friends still have and continue to get BlackBerrys. It's not because BlackBerrys are cheaper, they pay an expensive price to keep them. Honestly, I don't see why anyone would get BlackBerry over Android or iPhone considering the price. Does the button keyboard make it suitable for Canadian winter?
