Why do teens wear heavy clothing in warm weather

OK, Ive noticed this for years, but saw today and said I'm going to get to the bottom of this.

Went out at lunch today, gorgeous day. Plus 24, a slight breeze, suns out. Perfect shorts/t-shirt weather.

But everywhere I look teenagers are dressed in heavy clothes. Thick hoodies in dark colours with the hoods up, heavy fall jackets, puffy vests, jeans, etc, etc.

Just looking at them you can tell they are hot.

Is there a reason why teens wear winter like clothes like this in the summer time.

Are they afraid of the sun, do they like to sweat/smell, or do they like to be uncomfortable so they can add to their "my life is so crappy" mentality

And dont get me started with Toques in plus 30 degree temps

because it's still cool when they leave home in the morning and they just don't want to bother bringing any lighter clothes to change

That could be. But if they are wearing heavy stuff like that, wouldnt they just wear a tshirt underneath to change to

Plus it was like +12 this morning in the am. So I dont think thats it, you see them like that everywhere all the time, in the mall and when school isnt on either

I just have this vision if 15 years ago when I was in highschool and it was COOL to not wear jackets and toques in the middle of winter.

Personally, bravo kids of today, stay bundled up.

Oh you still see that today. I was kinda guilty of that to when I was growing up, but not to that degree.

But as soon as spring hit, I sure as hell shed the winter stuff to do the shorts things

So basically you never leave the house unless you are dressed for cold weather. Isnt that what the weather channel and forcasts are for. I realize this is canada, buts its also the start of summer as well

Ya look at me, Im at the beach in a hoodie and jeans. Puh-lease

Kids are skinny and get cold easily. As they get older they'll get fatter and build layers of fat, thus not needing as much clothes. Thats my theory!

Good theory, but Ive seen these kids dressed like that sweating. Same as people that wear toques in the summer. Walking down the street and you can see them sweating.

Thats a big difference from being a little bit chilly
