If you're not aware of it, RFD is a business. Do you seriously expect them to send their users to competitions? I don't see anything wrong with that AT ALL.

Why does RFD censor website links? ie. www. Great Canadian Rebates [dot] com?
I was just wondering why RFD censors links for?
and which links they censor?
Do they have a master list of the websites they censor? and if so, is that list available to RFD'ers?
I'm just curious because i was sending a friend on RFD a link to ******************** and for some reason this is what came up;
http://www.********************.ca/register
And this has happened before with other websites...
is it because RFD doesn't like competition? i'm not sure
edit lol ok.. this is hilarious to me know.. "Great Canadian Rebates [dot] com"

It's a stupid rule. It's like Google blocking Yahoo's site or vice versa. If RFD really was that good, it wouldn't fear competing sites.

By being better than their competitors instead of pretending they don't exist. Most forums, whether they're deal-related or not, don't block competing sites. Take for example anandtech, tomshardware, hardocp, etc., they don't care if you post links to other's sites. They actually seem to be have friendly relations even though they're vying for the same advertising dollars.

It depends case to case, but the most common reasons are spamming and copyright infringement (ie we've seen paid staff members from competing sites copy and paste content written by our staff.).
For whatever reason, the deal/coupon sites in Canada really don't get along well with each other...

i understand that at the end of the day it's a business.
so i guess RFD can do what they want..
personally though, i do not think there is a better deal website in Canada than RFD. So I don't think RFD has anything to worry about.
i was just curious though.
thanks for the reply's!.
