Why does US support Israel to any length and cost
Note: This is not anti-Semitic statement - just an exploration of a historical incident and fact. A colleague sent this to me and thought I would share because it may help us understand the world in which we live.
What Ariel Sharon Said
According to Israel radio (in Hebrew) Kol Yisrael, [Shimon] Peres warned [Ariel] Sharon Wednesday that refusing to heed incessant American requests for a cease-fire with the Palestinians would endanger Israeli interests and "turn the US against us."
At this point, a furious Sharon reportedly turned toward Peres, saying "every time we do something you tell me Americans will do this and will do that. I want to tell you something very clear, don't worry about American pressure on Israel, we, the Jewish people control America, and the Americans know it."
The radio said Peres and other cabinet ministers warned Sharon against saying what he said in public because "it would cause us a public relations disaster."

what a pile of bullsiht. Even if Sharon did say this it doesn't mean it's true.
Why is it so horrible that the US is an ally of Israel anyway? Is it because a majority of Israelis are JOOOS or something?

So every one of Ariel Sharon's opinions is fact or just the ones that fit your agenda? I still call bs on him saying this.
Here's a scary thought for you asim. Let's say America is run by those dirty joos you hate so much guess what? We live right next to them and we're good friends with them! You know what that means? We're friends with the joos!!!! Better call hitler man.
BTW I know you are but what am I

Do you have a reference for this?
I would be interested to learn more.
Note: Nothing anti-semitic is being communicated
Population
The 2000 American Census recorded 5.2 million Jews in the United States, accounting for less than 2% of the population. Jews in the U.S. settled largely in and near the major cities, first in the Northeast and Midwest but in recent decades increasingly in the South and West. In descending order, the metropolitan areas with the highest Jewish populations are New York City (1,750,000), Miami (535,000), Los Angeles (490,000), Philadelphia (254,000), Chicago (248,000), San Francisco (210,000), Boston (208,000), and Washington DC (165,000).

According to Israel's Central Bureau of Statistics, as of May 2006, of Israel's 7 million people, 77% were Jews (5.39 million), 18.5% Arabs, and 4.3% "others".[16] Among Jews, 68% were Sabras (Israeli-born), mostly second- or third-generation Israelis, and the rest are olim — 22% from Europe and the Americas, and 10% from Asia and Africa, including the Arab countries. This means that there are only 200,000 more Jews in Israel than there are in the United States. For that reason there is a significant lobby.

What is the basis for your opinion?
Why is this important? Something that might be good for Israel might not be good for Canada and the US. If the minority runs the political and foreign policy agenda then where has democracy disappeared to?

I did not state an opinion - I stated a historical fact which is referenced by two web sources (I could have provided more).
It is important to understand the socio-political dynamic which creates government agendas and foreign policy. Most people are happy with the 'political orthodoxy' of the present day - I prefer to understand WHY. Why am I being told to believe something by the brainwashing machines of our popular culture.

Meanwhile in the real world only 25% of jewish americans vote republican. Who controls the congress and the whitehouse? It isn't the democrats. Yes indeed concrete proof that jews control the world. Just like Hitler said. Good job man for uncovering the "truth".

Who says that either Democrats play to the lobby more than the Republicans?
As far as I know both parties pander to the lobby.
Just look at how pro-Israel Bush is.
Your comment is a sign of faulty logic.
Therefore, does your comment add value to the conversation and understanding of the greater picture?
Wow, American Jewry is disappearing pretty fast (mixed marriages, I suppose). For as long as I remember it American Jews outnumbered their Israeli brethen.

Damn, I gotta start me a webpage and put up whatever "facts" I want up there too! As long as they satisfy the reader's POV, they'll take it as gospel and I won't have to back up anything!

If the joos controlled the US then there would be a democrat in the whitehouse and congress would be controlled by them since 25% of jews vote republican the rest vote democrat. In fact the first vice presidential candidate to be a jew didn't even get elected! That's not faulty logic. You saying that jews control the United States of America is both illogical and ignorant. Nice dodge on the question of relevance. Again I ask you what does it matter if jews really do control the US. Bonus question. If the idea that the US is controlled by jews really does disturb you so much then how do you feel being in a country allied with them? Pretty scary no?
