Wi-Fi won't work on BlackBerry Bold
I don't have data plan ATM but I would like to use my Wi-Fi to connect to Bold.
I connected the Bold to my Wi-Fi (wifi logo on the top right corner screen) in grey colour. But when I click on browser, it won't let me access it?
WHY?

Well if I remember correct, you have to go to the browsers settings , and change the setting to " Hotspot browser"
Hope this helps

I have a bbb too. The grey wifi icon means the wifi connection has failed. First and foremost, make sure you update your firmware to .282 via desktop manager, and in mange connection, wi-fi option and perform a diagnostic see what the problem is.
Sometimes, it maybe the router problem as some port needs to be opened.

Is your router 802.11 B or 802.11G?
I had a blackberry Curve and could not get Wifi to work on a Dlink B router no matter what i tried, but it worked when I switched to a newer Dlink G router.

I'm sure it's a 802.11G.
How do you upgrade the firmware?
I have no idea how to work this out, new user!

On your blackberry, go to options, then About, 3rd line - it should read v.4.6.0.xxx. what is that xxx? I have 282, the latest official firmware.
If you don't. You should upgrade
Download BB desktop manager https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
or upgrade online
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/update/
that's for your blackberry

go to Manage Connections, set up WIFI network, find a network, select one, fill in password.
At least thats what i have to do with my Bold.
of course u can skips this process if it's already been found, selected, and confirmed password.

OP, Did you try running a diagnostic while connected to wifi
First, connect your wifi and wait for your grey icon to show up, then go to "Manage connection" then "wi-fi option" (blackberry button for options) and perform a diagnostic see what the problem is.

Ran the test too, but what am I suppose to see?
Okay, this is how it goes
When I put "ON" on the Data Service I can browse the internet, but when I put it "OFF" it wouldn't work?
Or that "ON" means that I'm using Rogers Data? Which I called Rogers to block ALL internet access from my BOLD.

OP, you can try dropping by a starbucks to connect wifi with your blackberry. It works with my bbb flawlessly.
In the meantime, two things you can do
1. Options, advance option, host routing table, scroll to Wi-Fi [60], blackberry button, Register now.
2.Options, advance option, service book, delete WiFi TCP-IP browser and WiFi TCP/IP transport and reboot (battery pull)
Think, think about getting a new router.
