I don't know about the position of the sensor with a 52 as of i don't have a tv that large. But if you really enjoy the wii you should get Super smash Bros Brawl. That game is really fun for a multiplayer game and in a few weeks Mario Kart Wii is coming out and that will be even better.

Wii tips for new owner...
2 questions - does the sensor generally work better ontop of the tv or set in front of it? I've got a 52 inch screen and I put the bar in front of the set, and it's probably not as reactive as I would like. Any opinions?
Also, my family's really having fun with the golf game, any recommendations for a golf sim'ish game on the wii that's not too complicated in terms of menus and whatnot, but fairly realistic in recreating the sport with the remote?
Thanks,

I put my sensor bar under my screen. I have a hard time controlling the wiimote when I put it above the screen. Oddly enough, when I borrowed my friend's wii before I got mine, his sensor worked perfectly above my screen.
Screen size isn't really an issue. I use my wii with a 96" screen. Just make sure that if you choose to put it above the screen, the wiimote is used at a lower height level and vice versa if you put the sensor below.

To be honest it's really fun insofar pretty much as it's getting the whole family into gaming - pop loves the golf game. Might pick up the first party offerings in a little while though, but only after they get a price drop.
I guess there's no real perfect solution then. I have it ontop of the TV, but as Sharp LCD's have a rounded top, it's a little bit of work getting it to snap on and stay there just right.

I've got a 50" and I had the sensor bar above the TV on a shelf for my centre speaker that was a few inches behind the TV and I was finding blind spots.
I moved it to directly below, but in front of the TV, at the end of the stand and it's been working great.
As for Golf games, I usually golf once a week during the season, and let me tell you, I have racked 40+ hours playing Tiger Woods 08, which I just got a month ago.
It's great.
The driving and irons are fairly realistic (can do a fade or draw), but you have to watch the screen for the arm position. It doesn't match 100% with where your backswing is. The same thing applies for chipping.
The downfall to the game is of course the putting. It's like a typical video game....estimate the speed for each line and assign a value to it and then add up the values to determine how many times you tap to the left or right to sink the putt.
I've been playing the Tiger Challenge (should be complete it by the weekend - total of 2 weeks with serious hours to get to where I am) and the PGA tour.
Enjoy and hope this helps._______________

this is a good thread - I just got my wii on Friday - I'd like to know how many saved games can be saved to the hard drive? And how large are the downloaded classic games? Just wondering if I should get an SD card.

Make sure you clear your room with anything breakable.
Make sure everyone wears a helmet when playing against each other and also especially if there are little kids running around. I've seen kids getting wacked by accident standing behind the players.

If you put it below the TV, put it at the tip/end of your TV stand, otherwise the wii pointer will be hard to control.

ya, my husband almost sent his laptop flying - it was sitting on the coffee table in front of where he was bowling - laptop was partially open - he swings to bowl, and WHACK - fortunately no damage done, and now he moves the coffee table completely out of the way
