No. Get a 600w - 750w this will leave a better margin.
Not like it was much more.

will 430W be enough?
hey guys I've got a Antec earth watts 430 in my rig right now and have been recently getting freeze up on gaming, i tested the ram they are fine. upgraded the vga drivers and made sure it is not overheating as i have an aftermarket cooler for cpu and vga. my cpu is a e8400 oc to 3.6ghz, will soon try to oc to 4.0ghz.
my rig:
e8400 oc 3.6ghz - with aftermarket cooler
asus 9800gt - with aftermarket cooler
asus p5ql pro
4gam ddr 2 ram
blu-ray drive
5 hard drives
fan controller
6 led fans - antic nine hundred case
a few usb devices
i want to ask if 430w be enough and if not how many watts need to be? considering if i want to oc the cpu to 4.00 ghz in the future? thanks

wattage isnt everything. AMPS is the main thing. 35A or higher on the 12v rail will do.

I had an almost identical rig except 2 hard disks and 3 case fans. I ran that with no problems on an Antec Basiq 500 power supply for 3 years. But with all those drives you probably need more. The 9800GT was pretty power hungry.

Hard drives barely pull any power. I'd say you should be fine with a good quality 500W.

It is more than enough. Don't listen to these infidels suggesting 700W power supplies. Your computer draws no more than 250W, even after taking into consideration the amps on 12V rails.
Replacing the power supply fixed it not because 430W wasn't enough, but because it was going bad and wasn't able to provide the proper voltages. If you replaced it with an identical Antec Earthwatt 430W, it would have still fixed your problem. Antec Earthwatt is a reputable unit and should be able to power your system with ease. Clearly it was malfunctioning.
People are pulling things out of their asses when they say you need a bigger power supply to support more hard drives. Each hard drive draws no more than 9W, and that's peak consumption. How often are all of the hard drives in your system operating at peak load? I'll let you draw your own conclusions from what I just said (assuming what I said is right, which it always is).Last edited by board123; Feb 8th, 2012 at 01:01 AM.

then you are wrong. at 90-100% load the whole rig draws close to 500W, so indeed a 600-750 would be better for now and future upgrades (like o.c and SLI)
