I've stopped posting here for a while and started lurking for a few years.
I noticed that the moderators are now very strict towards what can and cannot be posted...
Would a Remembrance Day thread get locked?
Although Remembrance Day is not political... It can evoke nationalistic emotions towards our brave soldiers who have fought (and died RIP) to protect our freedom. (I've changed democracy to freedom in order to avoid a political discussion...).
I've noticed in other years... It does spark some debate... e.g. "The soldiers in Afghanistan don't count... Only the ones from WW I & II!" or "Why are we celebrating death and war". There will always be a few people on the internet who bring up points like this. Theres also some other members who are quick to bring up counter-Remembrance ideas like the infamous 'white poppy' campaign.
Would a thread aobut such a nobel and honourable day be locked for such reasons?

I think if people would stay on topic and stick to remembering our troops instead of pushing their political opinions it should be fine - but I'm not a mod and it's just my opinion....
A remembrance day thread as you say should be for people who want to remember our soldiers - having lost grandparents during WORLD WAR 2 I'd hope that people would be able to keep their political views out of the thread at least for that one day. Then they could knock them selves out and post their opinions and get the thread locked.

Isnt this a too early to ask?

Anyways your answer is NO. It wouldnt be locked and contrary to whats being fed, we are reasonable enough to know what should be allowed. We have no qualms with people paying their respect to the soldiers and we will try our best to moderate and delete out any irrelevant posts just as we presently do.
Since your answer has been advised, I will lock this thread, before it turns into yet another mod bashing. If you have any further concerns, please feel free to participate in the Site comments thread.
