Each of those sizes has a different diameter/circumference. With 195 55 15, your speedometer will be off by 3.4%...with 195 30 15, it'll be off by 13.5%.
http://www.ronalusa.com/shopping/ says:
"It is vital to maintain the same rolling diameter, when changing to a different sized wheel/tire combination. Today's vehicles, whether cars, trucks, and SUV's all have a form of ABS brake system. It is important to stay with 3% of the recommended rolling diameter when changing your wheel/tire package. Some NEWER vehicles even have computer driven suspensions which make this even more critical. The speedometer and odometer readings can also be affected. Incorrect sizing, will create a safety RISK!"

some things...
Your clearance will be .4 inch (1cm) lower...
Your speedometer will be 3.3% too fast...
The lower the profile the worse the outcome after hitting a pothole...

it is not recommended that your overall diameter goes is over a 3% difference of your stock wheel and tire combo. so no it's not advisable to go with 195/50/15. if you're looking to reduce the amount of sidewall you should go with 205/50/15
